Documentation
SafetyNets Incorporated uses Visio to provide network diagrams,
with annotations, legend, and logical layout of network
components, all computers, wiring, and internet connections.
Final version is exported to multiple formats and provided to
the client on CD.
All work performed by SafetyNets is documented in detail,
organized logically by function, importance, and category,
usually in outline form, with executive summary.
Server installation will include basic procedures to avoid
support costs to the client company, including but not limited
to recovery from loss of power, inability to connect to the
server for logon, inability to reach the internet, email
problems, and customized documentation as specified by the
client.
Any maintenance performed in relation to a domain server,
webserver, or network will include documentation of machine
names, static IP if used, accounts, domain name(s), workgroup
(if used), DNS settings, DHCP settings, WINS settings,
administrative accounts and function, and passwords for all
accounts including network gear, firewalls, routers, and
servers.
Customized documentation tailored to the equipment owned and
staff experience level can be provided to include backup and
recovery of data, account creation/deletion/maintenance,
administrative settings on gear and servers, email setup/maintenance,
and internet access settings.
