Mission and Ethics

Mission Statement (Vision)

SafetyNets Incorporated places emphasis on simplicity wherever possible.  We feel that our mission can be summarized in 3 brief ideas, ordered with the most important idea listed first.  We think it is silly to have a separate vision and mission statement, when people often don't read or practice either one in big companies.  One is enough for us, and we actually do practice and think about ours.

  1. A positive attitude is a choice and sometimes requires effort.  We seek happiness, and wish to spread happiness to others.  We find happiness through achievements, and living a virtuous life, even at work.  A positive attitude and moral happiness are valid business goals.
  2. We will treat each person we communicate with equally without regard to their status.  Every person deserves empathy, professionalism, authenticity, and friendliness.  Honorable self conduct is also a valid business goal (and should be a goal for people in general).
  3. Perfectionism and other ridiculous claims will not be used.  We strive for excellence in all things but we are honest about our mistakes, learn from them, and act responsibly.

Operating Philosophy (Ethics)

  1. The client is the boss, almost all the time.  Their way is almost always the right way.  Although polite, we will not do work which hurts, rather than helps our clients.  Common sense is our constant companion, along with customer service that helps, rather than hurts our clients.
  2. We do what we say we will do.  If we say it, we will go to extraordinary lengths to make it happen.  Our value is strongly linked to our word, and we hold ourselves accountable and responsible for that.
  3. Timeliness.  Be on time, particularly when a person is waiting for you.  Being considerate to others should be common sense, but we made a separate ethical rule just for this, just in case.
  4. Communicate.  Wherever a contact is provided, give detailed status reports frequently and keep everyone who needs to be in the loop, while keeping fluff to a minimum.  People who horde information are often on a power trip.  That is contrary to decency and to our mission.
  5. Document everything.  Human memory is fallible.  Controversy and miscommunications will be minimized when a document is available which contains the details.
